Alpenglow Adventures is Offering the World's First and Only Hiking Trips for Children and Adults Who Cannot Walk to the Bottom of the Grand Canyon National Park and to the Highest Uhuru Summit on Mount Kilimanjaro in Two of the World's Most Famous National Parks for the Greatest Cause.

Alpenglow Adventures is an Easter Seal 501C3 Not For Profit Organization. All net income from all Alpenglow Adventures trips goes to provide children and adults with disabilities a fun 6-day Special Needs camp during the summertime at Easter Seals Camp KYSOC in Carrollton, Kentucky. Camp KYSOC, was built and opened in 1961 as the world’s first de-centralized camp for children and adults with disabilities. It is a facility of the Kentucky Easter Seals Cardinal Hill Healthcare System (the largest rehabilitative healthcare system provider in Kentucky), one of the best rehabilitative healthcare systems in America. In 2002 and 2003 its Flagship hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, the Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, was named twice a 50 Best Hospitals in the United States by U. S. News and World Report.

Alpenglow Adventures has begun the World’s First Adventure Program of its kind for those who cannot walk and it extends a huge welcome to all able bodied hikers and trekkers to join our trips and to participate with us to support our effort. Jim Ebert, with the support and encouragement from the Cardinal Hill Healthcare System, has begun the very first offered Grand Canyon National Park, Arizona hiking adventure trip offerings in the world for those with disabilities who cannot walk and the very first offered ascents to the Uhuru summit on Mount Kilimanjaro for those who cannot walk, or who cannot walk very well. We are using a Trailrider for the narrow trail above the 15,520 foot Kibo Hut on the Marangu route, and on the Grand Canyon National Park narrow trail descent to the bottom for anyone who cannot walk. We are also using the Kili-kart, which allows each participant to help with the pushing and the braking of the wheels so they can contribute toward their adventure goal. We are the only one in the world in possession of both the Trailrider and the Kili-kart trail transport devices for use on our trips and we are the only one in the world offering this service to anyone in the world who cannot walk, or not walk very well.

Jim Ebert’s goal for Alpenglow Adventures: To offer all of the same world classic hikes that most all able bodied hikers might strive to hike during their lifetime, i.e. the hike to the bottom of the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, the hike to the Havasu Campground located 10 miles deep within the Grand Canyon on the Havasupai Indian Reservation between the Havasu and Mooney Falls, the hike to the summit of the Uhuru summit on Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the hut to hut Routeburn and Milford hikes in New Zealand, the Inca Trail Hike to Machu Picchu in Peru, the hike from the city of Chamonix in France to the village of Zermatt in Switzerland, the circum-navigation hike of Mount Kenya in Kenya, the scenic village to village hikes that will allow the crossing of the spectacular Dolomites in Italy as well as the Bernese Oberlund in Switzerland, the most spectacular day hikes to mountain huts and lodges deep within the incredibly scenic Canadian Rockies in British Columbia and Alberta, Canada, and many of the most spectacular hikes in the Cordillera Blanca in Peru, South America to mention only a few.

Jim Ebert, Founder and Trip Leader, brings unmatched qualifications and leadership for each trip.
Any trip is only as safe as the trip leader who is leading your trip. Alpenglow Adventures is providing the first adventure hiking service in the world that is offering two of the world’s greatest and most famous National Parks for those who cannot walk. We are proud to have one of the world’s most experienced and safest mountain guides, expeditionary leaders, wilderness guides, trips leader in charge of each Alpenglow Adventure trip.
