Alpenglow Adventures Trips

Easter Seals Camp Kysoc (founded in 1961) is a 501 C 3 Organization that is offering at cost the very best led hiking adventures in the world to the Havasu, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona and hiking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro including a luxurious, unmatched seven-day game safari. No one surpasses our expertise, our top quality trips or our trip leader’s guiding experience and safety record. Please check out our trips before committing to other outfitters. Part of each person’s trip fee sponsors a child or an adult with a disability from a five state region to attend Easter Seals Camp Kysoc for a special needs 6-day session during the summertime and this amount can be written off as a charitable donation. The remaining fee is the at cost fee to operate the trip and it is at least one half to two thirds below other outfitters, guide services or travel adventure companies. We would love you to consider joining us on one of our incredible fundraising trips. You will not be disappointed.

Easter Seals Camp Kysoc is a Facility of the Kentucky Easter Seals Cardinal Hill Healthcare System, the largest rehabilitation healthcare system in the world. The flagship hospital, Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, was in both 2002 and again in 2003 listed as a Top 50 Best Hospitals in the United States by U.S. News and World Report.

No one can rival our expert trip leadership, or our top quality trips or our low, at cost, trip prices or the charitable support that part of each person’s trip fee will make to provide a child or an adult with a disability the opportunity to attend Easter Seals Camp Kysoc.

We are offering at cost our spectacular hiking adventure trips to the Havasu, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon National Park and to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, including the most luxurious seven-day game safari in Tanzania (not staying in cheap tents) to include two overnight stays in the best and the most luxurious game lodges (Serena Lodges) while staying in four of the best National Parks and Game Reserves in Tanzania. Adventurous hikers from all parts of North America are encouraged to participate with us on our trips where part of each person’s trip fee sponsors (charitable donation) a child or an adult with a disability from a five state area to attend a 6-day special needs session at Easter Seals Camp Kysoc in Carrollton, Kentucky during the summertime.

No one else has guided more people to the Havasu trails, or to the bottom of Grand Canyon National Park, for more years, involving more miles hiked, and done it safer with not a single injury occurring to a single participant that needed more than a band-aid, not even a sprained ankle, than has Jim Ebert, the Executive Camp Director, our trip leader.

No American mountain guide service or any American Travel Adventure company has guided Mount Kilimanjaro earlier, or with more people than has Jim Ebert, our trip leader. Since 1967, before any American mountain guide service and before any American travel adventure company first started guiding Tanzania, Kenya or Uganda, Jim has personally guided over 565 people to Uganda, Kenya and to Tanzania with the earliest American ascents of fourteen famous mountains in these three countries including Mount Kilimanjaro. Since 1967, Jim has personally guided over 250 people to the highest Uhuru Peak (summit) on Mount Kilimanjaro, 19,340 feet. Jim Ebert will not only accompany you to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, he will also accompany you on the entire seven-day game safari. Jim is one of America’s most accomplished wildlife and adventure 16 mm movie photographers having helped film and produce and narrate live from on stage eight different adventure films that show 17 Alpine countries to over 3 million people from within over 4,200 auditoriums across America including the first film that showed all of the greatest wildlife National Parks and game reserves in each of three East African countries (Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania) with unmatched wildlife sequences that were filmed while on safari with his own groups since 1967.

Please access the www.alpenglowadventures.org website to discover our incredible camping trip offerings for hikers from all parts of the country who are encouraged to participate with us on our trips that are offered at cost and that will provide funding from each participant’s trip fee to send a child or an adult with a disability to Easter Seals Camp Kysoc during the summertime.

Please access our website to discover the uniqueness of our trips such as being the first in America to offer a six-day hiking trip that includes both the hike to the Havasu Campground on the Havasupai Indian Reservation including the 16 mile RT hike down the Havasu Creek to the Colorado River and the descent to the bottom of the main Grand Canyon National Park descending down the South Kaibab Trail to the Phantom Ranch and ascending out the Bright Angel Trail. Also, we are offering an unmatched Kilimanjaro climb with the most luxurious game safari itinerary. We are staying two nights in each of the most luxurious Serena game lodges in four of the most famous National Parks and Game Reserves in Tanzania and absolutely no tented safari campsite itinerary compares to this unsurpassed luxury and safety. No one is offering a better quality trip, a better trip itinerary, better trip leadership, for less, to the Havasu, to the bottom of the Grand Canyon National Park or to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro that includes an unmatched seven-day game safari.

Havasu & Grand Canyon Hiking Trip

March 29 - April 3, 2009

Alpenglow Adventures is offering the first hiking trip in America that will take participants to both the Havasu Campground including the cool and refreshing 16 mile RT hike down the Havasu Canyon to the Colorado River and to the spectacular Grand Canyon National Park South Rim and the famous hike down the South Kaibab Trail to the bottom of the Grand Canyon National Park to the Phantom Ranch located near the Colorado River and then back out the Bright Angel Trail to the South Rim at the top. This is the first hiking trip in the nation that will descend to the bottom of two of America’s most scenic hiking attractions during a six day trip. All net income from each participant’s trip fee ($735) will go to sponsor a child or an adult with a disability from a five state area to attend a six day special needs camp at Kentucky Easter Seals Camp Kysoc in Carrollton, Kentucky during the summertime.

It is believed that Camp Kysoc is the first in the nation to offer this hiking trip to the nation’s college and University students. We will be hiking to the bottom of two of the most scenic hiking attractions in North America for the first time during our six day spring break hiking trip.

Because each student participant is sponsoring a business that is supporting a child or an adult with a disability to attend Easter Seals Camp Kysoc during this upcoming summer, it is an honor for Camp Kysoc to offer this never before offered Spring Break trip in 2009, at cost. Join this Grand Canyon hiking trip for a great cause, do something very challenging and very remarkable during your Spring Break that no one else has done. A special trip can be offered from your campus during your spring break if you have ten or more participants.

Book your group early to reserve your spring break dates.

Alpenglow Adventures is the very first in the world to offer hiking trail access to the summit of the 19,340 foot high Mount Kilimanjaro summit to anyone with a disability who cannot walk, or not walk very well, by using the Kili-kart and the Trailrider. Everyone is welcomed to join our trips. Over $2,200 from each African trip land cost fee of $5,795 is going to support three children and adults with disabilities to attend a six-day special needs session at Camp Kysoc during the summertime from a five State region.

We will ascend the Marunga Route that offers the only hut system on the mountain. We feel that no other route is easier, safer or offers a more comfortable or safer acclimatization ascent. We can evacuate a participant from the summit rim to the Park Entrance and to a hospital in 8 hours or less. Eight porters will do the transporting of each participant who needs assistance on the safest hiking trail on the mountain, clear to the summit. If the porters can get a participant to the summit by pushing and pulling them in the Trailrider and the Kili-kart, all accompanying trip participants should surely make it to the summit by hiking just as slowly.
